Big News

Maybe not exactly a blog worthy picture, but it conveys an important message. Yes, for those of you that haven't heard yet, Finn is going to be a big brother in October. He is very excited, even though he doesn't know it yet.

Finn vs. Kiwi

Although he ate the whole thing, Finn's first experience with a kiwi was pretty funny. Each time he took a bite, these were the faces he'd make. Then he'd grab another piece and do it all over again.

Being a big boy

These days Finn is doing more and more big boy things. Such as...using sign language to tell us he wants to eat, understanding and complying when we ask him to give us a kiss, pulling himself to standing, and insisting that we read the same book to him over and over and over again. Here are a few pictures of his recent attempt to feed himself. He's been practicing holding the spoon himself, which is always a mess, so I prepare by taking off his shirt and pants.

A possible conversation

You: "Wow, Mickey! What a terrible picture of Finn!"

Me: "Look closer. Particularly in the mouth, around the lower gums."

You: "Oh my! Are those teeth?"

Me: "Yes, indeed! They are tremendously difficult to photograph!"

Finn's Nap Alternative

Napping has become "optional" in Finn's mind these last few days. As such, this is a common (and admittedly exciting) new development in his crib time. If only he'd find a more suitable time to perform such an amazing feat!

A crazy week

Hey all. Sorry for the long delay. The Pearsons' week has been rather crazy. First, we've been working to get the house all cleaned and ready for putting it on the market. Then, I had a brief hospital stay following issues with my late appendix. Finally, Auntie Nicole & Uncle Sam moved into their new house this weekend, which made for even more busy-ness.

Back from Hiatus

I think that we, as photographers, may be suffering from the after-effects of a holiday season where our camera was rarely off. Sorry that you're having to pay for our lack of posting.

Dress up

On Saturday night Mickey and I got all dressed up and went to our work holiday party sans Finn. Since we rarely get this dressed up, I thought I would share the photo documentation. Of course, Finn is in the pictures since it's his blog.

Finn on all fours

Here is a fun video I shot with our digital camera. Sadly, there's no audio, but I think the video is darn good anyway. Finn's been working on crawling, and he's often up on all fours, rocking back and forth as you can see here. My prediction: Crawling by the end of the month.

It's 2007! The year Finn learns to talk, walk, crawl, read, and play piano! Perhaps I'm being optimistic on the last two, but come on... he's brilliant.

Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

Hope everyone is having a fantastic holiday! Grandma Nancy got a digital camera for an early Christmas present and has been clicking photos of Finn like mad. Here are some highlights of Finn's first Christmas in Grand Rapids.

Sorry for the Hiatus

Sorry that's it's been awhile since the last post. We've been assembling the Christmas cards that you were all so helpful with choosing (just kidding - it was a 4 way tie). Be ready for a surprise in your mailbox early next week.

Finn started some finger foods this week (basically the same foods, just not as mashed). Here are some pictures capturing Finn's attempts at getting food from the plate to his mouth without help. The first attempt was with cut-up bananas, but they proved too slippery for his tiny fists. We then tried puffed rice cereal, which was equally frustrating, but he did end up getting more of those in his mouth (with an attempt to success ratio of about 20:1).

Counting the write-in's, we have a four-way tie between Photos 1-4.
